Squats; Feel The Burn!
Ladies, let me talk to you first. You ever have a certain pair of pants or sassy dress you want to show off in? Not even that, but do you ever want to go to the gym to tone up, but you're just like me and don't feel like leaving your room? Well if you consider doing squats, you may have fulfill those few interests. The one thing about squats that people fail to realize is that it isn't just for toning your butt; "squat exercises are one of the best things you can do to tone your butt, hips, and thighs" ("Squat Exercises for Women," n.d.). I didn't know it toned your hips, so it was very interesting to find out that I'm improving multiple parts of my body and not just one. No worries; I didn't single guys out, so don't think this is just a one sided exercise.
Okay, okay. Maybe that wasn't a good reasoning for men to try squats, but maybe this will catch your interest. I found out that "most injuries are cause by weak muscles and soft tissue", and that "squats improve flexibility and balance which simultaneously strengthens your ankles, knees, hips and lower back" (Stepien, 2015). Not only are you getting a nice toned body out of this, but you're also preparing your body to be immune to injuries. So guys, did that change your mind? Don't be afraid to do a couple of them while you're watching the game, or your favorite show. If you're ashamed to admit that you're thinking about doing squats, just do them while you're in your room; no one will be able to see you, anyway. Ladies, maybe you can encourage your guy friends to try it out. Who knows? They'll probably thank you later.
Another way that squats aren't just good for butt workouts is that they "promote regularity; in order for your body to function properly, internal organs need to perform at their optimum. If performed in a full range of motion, squats help your colon by improving your body’s fluid and nutrition distribution to all your tissues, organs and glands" (Stepien, 2015). Who knew? Not only do squats improve your body externally, but it improves it internally as well. Yes, doing them will start to get tiring and you'll eventually become sore, but it's totally worth it! Not all things come easy, but there are some that are easier than others to do. This method is free to do, and it's beneficial in various ways.
All this time my only reason for doing squats was just for the sake of having a tone, firm butt. Who would've thought that trying to get your butt looking right came with all of these additional bonuses. It comes to show that a simple thing like doing squats can pass as a physical activity. It doesn't take much to be active; there isn't a rule saying you have to go to the gym everyday. Partaking in this type of activity will only require your participation and what you can handle. It's nothing too hard core, but doing squats on a regular basis will help you in the long run. Find some time to do it: if you're watching TV and come across a commercial, do squats; have nothing to do, but lay in bed? Do squats. Studying or doing homework and about to take a break? Do squats. It's not that hard and it's probably one of the easiest ways to stay active.

Hey Whitney! I really enjoyed your post. Recently, I have become very passionate about working out and going to the gym, but sometimes I simply don't have motivation to leave my apartment. You are right, you don't always have to go to the gym to get a good work out. You can easily do squats in your living room or bedroom! There are also a lot of other options as well.
ReplyDeleteIt is sometimes difficult for me to find the time to exercise because I am so busy. I am double majoring, I have a job, and I am a part of many extracurriculars. Sometimes I also struggle with the motivation because I am often too tired and I will take a nap every chance that I get.For your next post do you think you would be interested in possibly posting an at-home workout plan? That is something that I would definitely find useful. Again, awesome post this week!

I love this! Everyone always says squats are for girls only but with all the additional benefits, why wouldn't everyone do squats? I always knew it worked butt, legs, and improved flexibility but squats are amazing of they also work other things. You aren't kidding when you said they are tiring but the burn lets us know they are working. This has motivated me for the time being to do squats but I know when I'm doing nothing later I won't want to get up, that why I force myself to visit the gym. Maybe next time I'll remember to take a couple minutes to do some squats.
ReplyDeleteAwesome post!
I love squats! Actually, I use to despise them until I learned how excellent the results were. I knew that they were awesome for toning our legs, but I was totally unaware of all the other benefits. I find it super interesting how squats help to regulate our body systems, especially for our colon. I love how the information was relevant to both men and women. I know that many people want to increase their physical activity and squats provide the perfect opportunity to without leaving the house. I also love how you shared practicals about how to add squats into your everyday routine like during t.v. commercials. A sedentary lifestyle is extremely hazardous to our short-term and long-term health. I look forward to read more of your posts!
ReplyDeleteOmg Whitney, I love this! Soon as I looked at your title I was quick to click on your post. I am always in the gym and squats are my favorite exercise, even though it does burn! The motto is, if it doesn't burn your not doing it right!. You blog is very education, especially for people who love to workout those gluteus muscles. I feel like if you want your butt to stay toned up this is the best exercise for it. There are many different ways that you can do squats but I do it the hard way with weights for the BEST results. I love working out and physical activities and exercise is very important to me. I will definitely be reading the rest of your post!
ReplyDeleteThis was a great first post Whitney! what female doesn't think about having a nice butt nowadays? and whoever says they don't is lying. Even though I already have a slight poke, I still enjoy doing squats because it does give your butt a lift and a nice tone. That is interesting to know that squats work out your hips to, I didn't know that. I'm happy that you included that squats are fine for guys to do also because guys might think its a feminine thing, but I honestly like a guy with a nice butt. I don't see the problem with guys having a big butt, I think its attractive. Plus, they are an easy exercise. I know when i go to the gym and do my squat exercises, the pain isn't that great. But like you said, you can do them at home as well and it will help out in the long run. Great job!
ReplyDeleteReally nice job Whitney! You kept your post fun and easy to read and I love that! I use to think squats were just to help my butt look nicer but now that I know that it will also help out my body and organs I will never stop doing them LOL! Good job on keeping it simple but still giving facts. Now that I think about it squats are something that I can do any and everywhere, so i'm going to start doing them.
ReplyDeleteWow I didn't know all of that about squats! That was super informative. Next time I miss a day at the gym I'll just try to do 100 squats instead. I remember the squat challenges and thought they never worked. However, since there are so many benefits of squatting, I might participate in one for health benefits. I do notice when I squat it makes me out of breath so fast! I am about to go do some at the gym right now after reading this post. Loved it! :)
